Is this the same DeVine running for prosecutor in Seneca County? If so, Great Job!
We’ve heard about that DeVine guy. It’s refreshing to know that he threw his hat in the ring for Prosecutor here. We need more leadership like that in our county.
Apparently Hollis was a real piece of work, a racist, a sexist, and had an ego the size of a planet according to the folks in Upper. People like Hollis make it bad for all the good men and women in law enforcement who keep us safe. Kudos to the officers who told the truth, and thank you DeVine team!
The sad fact is that folks of that ilk are in most communities and are found in every walk of life. They are in the business community, among the professionals, the neighbor next-door, the senior citizen down the street. DeVine intervention prevailed in the Hollis case!
Can anyone actually confirm that Hollis was found guilty?? This blog is the only place I have read that he was found guilty.
According to the online Chief-Union article posted above, he plead not-guilty during the first day of trial. Was there more in the printed edition?
I will bet my life on it. The Chief Union will have more on Monday. I saw a job opening posted in the Tiffin paper for a postion as officer in Upper. That was fast!
You all are very quick to criticize Chief Hollis. You have no idea what he has meant to the community nor do you know him as an individual trying to do his very difficult job. When ALL of the facts truly come out……..you will find he did the right thing!
ifyouonlyknew – under no circumstances did Hollis act appropriately. Hollis acts like a Hollywood small town bully. I’m sorry, but as much as I respect law enforcement, being the chief in Upper is hardly like running New York City. It is a very nice small town, and his job was not “very difficult.” Mr. Hollis could use a class in constitutional law.
There is absolutely NO reason to defend “Chef” Hollis unless you are a maniac. The victim of “Chef” was “guilty” of only one thing: being of Hispanic descent and using the poor judgment to enter the city limits of Upper Sandusky! “Chef” Hollis is a racist. I’m sure he did a lot of nice things for the conservative white people in Upper Sandusky, much like Marge Schott did for the white community in Cincinnati, but that doesn’t make him a “good” person. I wonder what the conservative white people in Upper Sandusky will have to say when “Chef” Hollis’s victim sues Upper Sandusky and gets a large verdict rendered against the town.
Mark up a victory for Grand Old Lady Justice!
Hey, “ifyou” — Just when do you expect all of the facts to truly come out? Hmmm…wouldn’t that be…hmmm…AT TRIAL? I can’t imagine that Dennis Pfeifer would have held anything back at trial.
Mr. Hollis, the Tribe has spoken!
Ahh yes – Dennis – Upper’s answer to the Great Pony Tailed One – another one who has climbed to the top on the the cash of the working class with bombast and brinksmanship. Good show! I suspect that ifyou and the Chef used to work together up North.
First Dennis, now Joonier.
Mr. Devine: We look forward to you liberating us from the tyranny of The Only Elected Prosecutor In Seneca County. A gratful Seneca County awaits our day of deliverance.

Don’t you love the irony!
God Bless: – wondering; are we to ask God to bless Nancy, Ron, Patti, Michael, or the Reagan who does substitute teaching in Gibsonburg? ?

Hey Denny nice picture. Nothing really changes in Upper Sandusky.
Thought my cataracts were confusing my sight this morning! Looked again, however, and not that more than half the folks on our street are sporting “DeVine” signs. Someone was mighty BUSY! Go, Derek, GO! We need you in this county!
just so u know the guy he did that to was a piece of sh**
It sounds like your chief was making sure this gang member found his way out of your community. He should have been praised and not crucified. I read more about this online and have one question: How did the girl’s mother and grandmother feel about the guy being driven to the county line? Seeing how the guy spent the night with a minor, he is probably lucky he got a ride to the county line and not a bed in the local jail and no one here thinks sleeping with a minor is wrong?…strange ethics. In most communities this guy would be in jail and this one got a ride out of town. Nice work welcoming a gang into your community; As for the chief being a racist, the guy could have been white or green with purple stripes and the same thing would have happened. Research the Latin KIngs and then pat yourselves on the back if you really think making sure this guy left your town and an area where your children attend school was a bad idea. It wasn’t about race, it was about what Silva was into and the safety of not only your children but your entire community. Maybe those who think Hollis was wrong should check out what Mr. Silva has been doing with his time since this occurrence (http://courtrecords.co.marion.oh.us/pa/.) You lost a chief with excellent instincts.
