City Law Director Timothy Hoover said the city is beginning to assist West Millgrove with traffic citations. Fostoria will be prosecuting cases from the village and Hoover said an anticipated $300,000 will be generated by the end of the year as a result.

  1. Three hundred thousand dollarinees just from West Millgrove? Holy Shnikies that’s a lot of money!

Where has that money all been going? It sure hasn’t been for downtown West Millgrove beautification projects!

  2. Is there a downtown West Millgrove?????

  3. I have to believe that Mr. Hoover is incredibly stupid or he was mis-quoted. $300,000 for traffic tickets in West Millgrove for the rest of this year!!! That equals almost $1,800 per day in traffic tickets. Attention all drivers–go around!

  4. About 9 years ago, a friend of mine, new to the area, got stopped there for speeding. As I went to rescue her (they wouldn’t let her drive home), the cop there tried to push the line of clothing he was designing on her. I kid you NOT!

Perhaps Yves St Laurant is actually hiding out in West Millgrove…

  5. Puddintame - That is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard.

  6. I swear to God it’s true!

  7. This is a different slant on…. villages…… Anyone ever drive through Belmore, OH? I saw it today! Have not witnessed such poverty and neglect since I was in the real Poverty Belt! I had not realized such communities exist in Northwest Ohio!

  8. Hey Puddintame, What was the cop selling -orange jump suits?

  9. Anon - I know a place up by the lake off Rt.6 in Sandusky county that sounds like Belmore. I can’t remember the name of the little town but it is awful.

  10. Speak - Heh, heh!

  11. Anonymous, you’ve obviously never been to Bloomville.

  12. Beenthere: I have not been to Bloomville. Heard of it, but nothing more.

Gum’nt programs and tax-incentives tend to fall short in helping those who don’t care. ‘Bet the rats and roaches love ‘em!

That’s what I say about downtown Tiffin! Push brooms, scoop shovels, trash cans, some paint and replacement slats, new window screens, WEEDS PULLED from the courthouse steps, some pruning/trimming —
It all might help to instill some local pride.

  13. This is Tim Hoover, Fostoria City Law Director. I wish to note that the Advertiser-Tribune did misquote me. The projected revenue for the City is approximately $3,000.00. In the future, if you have any questions about matters pertaining to the Department of Law, please feel free to call my office at 419-435-1999–I am more than happy to discuss issues such as these with anyone who is interested.

  14. Just as we figured and just as I previously today posted under another heading, the AT does frequently misquote people and/or put decimal points or commas in the wrong spot.

  15. Thank you Tim for clearing that up.

  16. Talking about mistakes in the newspaper. Misspellings are one thing, but if you read the recent editorial by John Barga, there was an entire paragraph repeated. It took up a 3 inch space that could have been sold for advertising.

  17. Saw that and that is another frequent mistake. What about the paragraphs that just stop in mid sentence with no connection any other place in the paper at all. Talk about leaving you hanging….

  18. Tune-in next week for the exciting conclusion!

  19. “Gooder English Week” should be expanded to include punctuation, proof reading, headline-writing, and all such things relating to the printed word. Engraved invitations should be sent to the A-T.

  20. And notice that, when the A-T does offer a correction on such mistakes, the excuse is often, “The A-T was supplied with the incorrect information.”

  21. The A-T is not unique in this regard. The Columbus DISGRACE recently had this gem in an article on July 8 about Ohio possibly resuming executions:

“New Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the former dean of the Moritz School of Law at Ohio State University, could face an execution before she leaves office following the Nov. 4 election.”

Either Ohio instituted a harsh, post-Dann zero tolerance policy or one got by the editor.

A tip of the hat to Pho’s Akron Pages blog for spotting that one!

  22. Geez! Is Nancy facing a firing squad or lethal injection?

  23. Guillotine.

  24. Late night TV personalities ought to know about the execution and have cameras ready.

  25. So when did the AT run a correction of their story showing Hoover’s actual numbers?

  26. I don’t know that they have as yet. I was very happy to see Hoover posted the clarification.

  27. There was a correction in today’s (Friday’s) newspaper.

  28. My hunch is that A-T people really snicker when they see a typo on the BLOG.

  29. You get what you pay for, right?

  30. That’s right - nobody has to pay to read our typos!

  31. I thought everyone here was purrfect, I mean perfict, crap, purfickt. You know what I mean!
